How does it work?
ABA therapy is an evidence-based approach used to help individuals with Autism and other
developmental disorders. It focuses on teaching important skills and reducing challenging
behaviours through learning principles.
- STEP 1: A qualified expert assesses the child’s needs and deficits to identify target behaviours.
- STEP 2: A personalised treatment plan is made to teach new skills and decrease the problem
behaviours.
- STEP 3: Data about the problem behaviours is collected through interactions to track the
progress and modify the treatment plan.
- STEP 4: Desired behaviours are rewarded with praise, tokens or preferred activities to
encourage their occurrence.
- STEP 5: These positive behaviours are adapted to the child’s everyday life, beyond the therapy
room
